Children are more addicted to their screens than ever before. This is no coincidence. By going undercover as a gaming company, the documentary “Who is Spying on Our Kids?” reveals that companies behind the children’s online games are intentionally manipulating the children to get addicted.
To learn about the data shared regarding the children, the journalists facilitate an experiment in a school class of 10-year-olds where they download a game on their phones. The documentary reveals that the personal information is illegally being sold in the entire world. The so-called data brokers are selling this information to banks, insurance companies etc. Information that will stick to the children and possibly influence their opportunities in the future.

Anna Thyrri has been an investigative journalist at Kompagniet since 2019. She is behind several agenda-setting documentaries on the Danish TV channel TV 2.
One of her most notable achievements was the production of a complex documentary, "Who is spying on our kids" in 2023. Through extensive research, Anna, in collaboration with her colleague Frida Petersen, uncovered how the gaming industry extracts data from mobile games and sells it globally. These so-called data brokers are selling such information to banks, insurance companies, and other entities. This information could have lasting implications for children, potentially affecting their future opportunities.
